Hotels near MTS Centre in Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s downtown is a lively place, and we are located right in the middle of the action. One of the highlights located within walking distance of our doors is the MTS Centre.

The MTS Centre is a major feature of the downtown renovation of Winnipeg. First opened in 2003, the Centre is a multi-use sports and entertainment facility that has contributed greatly to a renaissance in the core of this great city. The Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL) call this their home and every season brings new thrills to Manitoba’s die-hard hockey fans.

The Jets, as exciting as they are, are just one of the many ice-oriented attractions the 15,000 seat MTS Centre has to offer. In addition to hosting NHL hockey the Centre houses the MTS Iceplex. The Iceplex is touted as Manitoba’s community hockey complex and boasts a 177,000 square foot facility that has four regulation sized ice rinks, a goalie training facility, pro shop and concessions. The Iceplex is available for both youth and adult hockey leagues and tournaments and is used for public skating as well.

Fun on the ice might be enough, but the MTS Centre doesn’t stop there. Concerts and performance art are presented year round, and state-of-the-art sight-line design and acoustics are why fans flocked to see Gordon Lightfoot and Prince in December of 2011. Upcoming 2012 events include Disney on Ice, professional wrestling and concerts by popular bands Deep Purple and Simple Plan.
